Physical Therapy CPT Code
Physical
Therapy CPT code or Current Procedural Terminology Codes are the codes used to
describe the services performed on the patient. There are
certain codes used specifically for physical therapy. Those
codes range from 97010 - 97546.
Unfortunately, at this time there is no book that contains just the
PT CPT codes. In order to receive the codes you must purchase the
entire CPT4 book which usually runs about $100. The PT codes are
only on a couple of the pages, so if you know a physician you may be able
to just copy the pages for PT.
Each
year the CPT codes are updated. It is important to check for
changes. It is not necessary to purchase a new book each year if you
are only using the PT codes. There are other ways to check for
changes.
Medicare usually posts any
changes on their website. If you belong to an organization for PT's,
they will usually notify you of upcoming
changes.
It is important
that you use the most current CPT codes. If you are using outdated
codes your claims will most likely be denied.
